BanG Dream! YUME∞MITA Episode 9 Stacks More Problems

Things are taking a bad turn in BanG Dream! YUME∞MITA Episode 9, with the group’s troubles piling up. Miyako is still just as difficult to defend, yet I keep thinking she hasn’t deliberately done anything wrong because she’s being manipulated by Viola. Regarding Yuno’s departure, she’s not entirely gone; she’s still penning lyrics for the band, and the Manager says she does this because she still cares. Right now, I’m inclined to trust the Manager’s judgment. It’s Nonoka, though, who makes the situation feel especially sorrowful.

Miyako’s remarks plainly wound Nonoka, whose tone says it all. She is no longer the lively Nonoka we used to admire. She no longer radiates the same brightness. Even though she still pretends to stay optimistic, the weariness in her voice and the circles under her eyes tell a different story. Meanwhile, Arale and Ritsu are left trying to patch things up with everyone and keep the band from falling apart. I’m still most surprised by Ritsu.

I can’t believe I missed it. I always thought Yuno would be the one to eventually straighten the band out, but now she’s just become another hurdle. Still, there’s some light because Ritsu is finally taking charge. As the newest member, she’s the one who’s stepping forward to mend what’s broken.

What I like is that even though the group is supposed to be in the midst of a major crisis, the episode doesn’t feel as emotionally intense as the circumstances would imply. A big part of this comes from Arale and Ritsu’s comic‑relief moments and the Manager’s usual laid‑back demeanor.

It’s odd, because at this stage the situation should be at its darkest for Mugendai Mewtype. The band is fracturing, Yuno has left, Nonoka is drained, Miyako is under Viola’s control, and everyone is trying to find a way forward. Still, Episode 9 feels surprisingly light‑hearted.

There were uncomfortable scenes whenever Nonoka and Miyako interacted, and there were moments when I felt like silencing Miyako. Her comments keep making things worse, and seeing her sink further into Viola’s influence is irritating. Still, I wanted the episode to deliver more emotional depth.

Episode 9 felt rather subdued even though it packed plenty of events. The most notable shift was Ritsu’s move to try to patch up the group she’d just joined. She doesn’t come across as an outsider at all—she’s Arale’s closest buddy, already knows several members personally, and, crucially, knows just how cunning Viola can be.

Nonoka and Yuno’s arcs remain unresolved. The episode only skims the surface of what they’re battling internally. Arale’s role as the comic relief added a different vibe, but that’s pretty much her usual routine.

Miyako keeps adding fuel to the fire, and it’s increasingly tough to excuse her behavior. Still, it’s not entirely unjustifiable—she’s being pulled around by someone who’s proven terrifyingly skilled at twisting minds. All in all, Miyako is tangled up in conflicting feelings and doesn’t know how to handle them, and I get that completely. Realizing you’ve stumbled and that the others haven’t called you out, with no one holding you to account, is frustrating for someone like Miyako who craves taking responsibility for her actions. I’m not saying she wants any punishment, just that she needs guidance so she can truly forgive and rebuild her bonds. The awkwardness she once felt with Arale never got resolved, and now the tension between her and Nonoka is even worse. If this trend keeps up, she’ll start feeling like she doesn’t belong, and it’s all Viola’s doing.

Viola stands out as one of the story’s most threatening figures because she rarely needs to coerce anyone. She slips into their minds, making them think they’re making independent choices. If Miyako were to snap out of Viola’s grip all at once, it would cheapen the cunning nature of Viola’s scheme. That’s why, despite Miyako’s current frustrations, I’m willing to accept where the narrative is headed.

The storyline is pressing onward. I’m now hoping the series will take time to explore Nonoka and Yuno’s inner battles more deeply. I’d like to see them face their own demons, find a path back to the rest of the crew, and end up standing with Arale and Ritsu.

If Mugendai Mewtype has hit rock bottom, I want to witness them pulling each other out together. New obstacles keep appearing, yet there’s still a flicker of hope. Arale and Ritsu now shoulder weighty duties to try to glue the band back together, and while I think they could reunite everyone again, I sense the biggest challenge lies ahead. Something sinister is brewing with Viola, and I don’t like the taste of it at all.
